ABOUT PUNCHLINE
A party card game for the group chat era.
Punchline is a free online card game you play with friends in your browser. No accounts, no app, no premium decks. You open a link, you start laughing.
What it is
Punchline is a fill-in-the-blank party game in the lineage of Cards Against Humanity and Apples to Apples. One player reads a prompt with a missing word or phrase, everyone else plays the funniest card from their hand, and a rotating judge picks the winner. The first player to a target score wins the match. You can play with 2 people (an AI judges) or up to 6.
Why it's different
Most card games of this kind reward random luck. Punchline rewards momentum. Win two rounds in a row and your next win counts double. Win three in a row and it counts triple. But every player who lost to your streak is now a bounty — beating you steals your multiplier. The game is structurally biased toward comebacks and dramatic reversals, which means the funny round is rarely the round that ends the match.
Wildcards
Once per game, every player can play a wildcard: write their own answer instead of using a card from their hand. If the wildcard wins, the round counts double. If it loses, the player sits out the next round. It's a high-risk, once-per-match move, and it's where most of the memorable moments come from.
Free, with no fine print
Punchline costs nothing to play and never will. There are no accounts, no signup flow, no ads, no premium card packs, no tracking pixels, no email collection. The only data the server holds is what's needed to run your current game — and it's wiped when the match ends. The servers cost a few euros a month to run; if you want to help with that, there's a Ko-fi button on the homepage.
Languages
Punchline is available in English and Portuguese, with cards written natively in each language — not machine-translated. The humor in a translated card game rarely survives the trip, so we wrote two decks from scratch. More languages are possible if there's demand.
